How these listings work

Every card above is a real Chihuahua for sale (or recently placed) from our Balestier shop, refreshed weekly by the owners rather than a marketing feed. We keep the cards deliberately spare, colour, coat, sex and age, because the details that matter most are the same for every puppy we place: a purebred Chihuahua, vet health check done, vaccinations on schedule, microchipped, dewormed at every visit, and priced inside $4,288–$4,888 all-in with no premium for any colour, coat or head type.

The HDB approved pill on each card is not decoration; it is a genuine advantage. The Chihuahua is the smallest breed on HDB's approved list, so unlike some breeds there is no housing barrier to clear, just the one-dog-per-flat rule and the AVS licence we handle for you at purchase.

Enquiring works like this. Message us at +65 8220 6408 on WhatsApp with the puppy that caught your eye and whether you want smooth or long coat. We reply with current photos and videos, the exact all-in figure for that puppy, and honest notes on its temperament so far, the bold one, the watcher, the little shadow who has already chosen a person.

Then come and meet it at 2 Balestier Road #01-701 in Balestier. Ten minutes on the floor with a Chihuahua puppy tells you more than an hour of scrolling, and it also lets us meet you, because a shop that has placed 25+ Chihuahuas develops opinions about matches and we share them freely.

Smooth or long coat, apple or deer head

Two coats appear on this page. The smooth coat is the short, close, low-maintenance classic: a quick weekly wipe and it looks sharp. The long coat is the same breed with a recessive coat gene expressed, with feathering at the ears, legs and tail. It is lovely, and it asks for a little more brushing, ten minutes a week, not a salon habit.

Both coats cost the same with us, because a coat gene is not a luxury feature. Both also feel Singapore's real Chihuahua hazard, which is not heat but cold: a smooth coat especially will shiver in a strong aircon, so warm bedding is part of the kit either way.

You will also see both head types here. The apple head is the breed standard, a domed skull with a short muzzle and often a molera, the small soft spot on the skull that is usually harmless. The deer head has a longer muzzle and a flatter skull; it is non-standard but typically healthy, and it is the one people mistake for a Miniature Pinscher. We place both, at the same price, and we never mark a deer head down as a lesser dog.

Honest colours, ethical merle, no premiums

On colour we place the standard Chihuahua range, fawn, cream, black and tan, chocolate and tan, and white, plus the occasional merle. Where we place a merle, it comes only from a single-merle pairing, one merle parent bred to a solid parent, and every one has a proper health screening.

We will not breed or place a double-merle, the product of two merle parents, because that pairing carries documented deafness and eye-defect risks. And we charge no rare-colour premium: a merle or a blue Chihuahua costs exactly what any other Chihuahua costs. Charging more for a colour is one of the things this breed market gets wrong, and we would rather be the shop that does not.

How to choose between littermates

Choosing between littermates is where buyers most want help, so here is how we frame it for a breed that bonds this intensely. Temperament first, because the Chihuahua famously attaches hard, often to one person. In a typical litter we will have one bold explorer, one careful watcher, and one velcro puppy who has already picked a human by the second visit.

Age next: a nine-week puppy and an eleven-week puppy are both inside the ideal socialisation window; the older one simply has two more weeks of our handling and floor-noise work done, and often settles faster in week one. Sex last and honestly least: individual personality swamps the male-versus-female average every time, which is why our WhatsApp notes describe the actual puppy, not the stereotype.

Match the puppy to your household, not the other way around. A single person or a retired couple often adore the velcro one, since the intense one-person bond is a feature for them rather than a nuisance. A calmer home with gentle older children usually does well with the watcher. What we will steer you away from, gently, is a fragile toy puppy in a home with a boisterous toddler, because that is a mismatch that ends in a scared dog or a hurt child.

Tell us honestly what your week looks like, and we will tell you honestly which puppy fits it. That exchange, more than anything on this page, is why our bring-back rate stays close to zero, and why buyers who choose on temperament report the happiest first-year stories we hear.

What backs the cute photos

Every puppy leaves with its vaccination booklet, microchip registration, breed identification papers and vet health check record in your hand, not "available on request". The all-in price includes the 30-item starter kit ($533 itemised), free delivery with playpen setup, a free first training lesson with an AVS-certified trainer, and your dog licence filed at purchase.

Afterwards you hold the 5-day bring-back promise, free boarding for up to a month if you booked travel before you met your dog, and a care advice line that answers the small panics of the first months, the first refused meal, the first shiver, the first stubborn dental brush. Curious Tails holds AVS pet shop licence AS24J00046, verifiable on the AVS public registry, and the owners, Nelson and Kim, are in the shop most days.

A note on timing. Litters here are steady but not constant, and we refuse to over-source to fill a page. If nothing above fits, the waiting list is genuinely how most of our placements happen: tell us coat, head type, colour and temperament preferences, and expect a message with photos when a matching litter clears its week-6 vet check.

The list costs nothing and commits you to nothing. What we will never do is pressure a fit: if you meet a puppy and the spark is not there, say so, and we will keep looking with you. With a dog that may share the next sixteen years of your life, the right match a month later beats the wrong match today, every single time.

Frequently asked questions

How old are the puppies when they go home?

Around week 9. By then they have had vaccinations at weeks 6 and 8, deworming at every visit, a vet health check and a microchip. Week 12 and an optional week 16 jab follow after homing, then annual boosters.

Can I visit before deciding?

Please do. We are at 2 Balestier Road #01-701, weekdays 12pm to 6pm and weekends 10am to 6pm. Ten minutes with a puppy beats any photo. No appointment charge, no obligation.

Is the price the same for smooth and long coat?

Yes. Every puppy sits inside $4,288–$4,888 all-in. Smooth coat or long coat, apple head or deer head, male or female: no coat, head type or colour carries a premium.

Do you sell teacup Chihuahuas?

No. "Teacup" is a marketing label, not a size, and it describes an undersized dog with real health risks. We place healthy, correctly sized Chihuahuas only, and we will happily explain why on WhatsApp.

Do you place merle Chihuahuas?

Occasionally, and only from a health-screened single-merle pairing (one merle parent bred to a non-merle parent). We never breed or place a double-merle, because two merle parents carry serious deafness and eye-defect risks. Merle costs the same as any other colour.

Do you charge more for rare colours?

Never. Blue, merle and every other colour cost exactly what a fawn or a cream costs. Rare-colour premiums are one of the things wrong with this breed market, and we do not play that game.

Can I buy a Chihuahua if I live in an HDB flat?

Yes. The Chihuahua is HDB approved, the smallest approved breed in fact. HDB allows one approved dog per flat, and we handle the AVS licence at purchase.

What if the puppy I like is taken?

Tell us what drew you to it, coat, head type, temperament, and we will put you on the list for the next matching litter. Our litters are small and steady rather than constant.

Are there Chihuahua breeders in Singapore?

Very few, and that is a land question rather than a demand one. Singapore has almost no space for licensed breeding kennels, so most Chihuahuas here reach buyers through AVS licensed pet shops like ours, which source from screened breeders and take responsibility for the puppy at the point of sale. Anyone marketing themselves as a Singapore Chihuahua breeder should be able to show you a licence; if they cannot, walk away.

How do I tell a licensed seller from a backyard one?

Ask for the AVS licence number and check it on the AVS public registry, ours is AS24J00046. A licensed seller shows you the premises, hands over vaccination and microchip records at purchase, files your dog licence for you, and quotes an all-in price. An unlicensed seller meets you in a car park, will not show the parents' paperwork, and prices on how tiny the dog will stay.
